Just a Little History

Beckham Creek Cave Lodge has a rich and diverse history dating back to the days of Jesse James and his outlaw gang that used the cave for their hideout when traveling through the the NW part of the Ozark Mountains.

Then, in the prohibition era, bootleggers set up a moonshine still inside the cave and when excavation began in the 1980's, the old still was mostly intact. John Haye, co-owner of Celestial Seasonings Tea, bought the property and had the cave excavated and a bomb shelter was built inside it. Later, it was sold to a gentleman from Missouri who turned it into a world-class nightclub.

On opening day, it is reported that celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Jackson, Sylvester Stallone and his family, etc., dropped in via helicopters onto our heli-pad and waved at the locals that were allowed to watch from a distance. After the nightclub, the cave was turned into a Bordello, then a lodge which it has remained as till this day.
